UI Practice #1: Airy

Today’s UI/UX study is a simple exercise in creating a modern and clean Air Quality display widget for MacOS. Below are some details about the widget—for this instance I don’t feel the need to explain my design decisions as they should be self explanatory.

The widget’s main display is the hero emoji icon, representing the air quality at a glance and ties it to a human emotional state. The US Environmental Protection Agency logo is present to show the source of the information being displayed. The location display may seem like a small touch but without GPS data, the widget would be extremely cumbersome to refresh as a user travels throughout the day.

The last display fields are the Particulate Matter in the air, and the Air Quality Index scale with matching display.
